FEATURED PIECES: ONE OF THE GUYS by Margaret Heidenry & James Heidenry DYING TO GET MARRIED by Michael King LOCK JAW by Daniel Green Industry Guest to be announced! WHY THE RAW WORD? The event was started as a result of a need spotted by the committee. Rarely do actors, writers, filmmakers and industry executives join together to review potential material. The Raw Word attempts to do just that. WHAT HAPPENS AT THE RAW WORD? Each month The Raw Word organizes a reading. Three screenplay excerpts (10-12 pages each) are performed by up and coming actors. The excerpts are all new material which the writers are seeking to test in front of a live audience and an experienced film executive. One hour before the event, talented actors are provided the material and rehearse. After each piece is performed, the film executive host provides critical feed-back on the work. After all pieces are performed, the film executive is interviewed by one of the committee members. WHO ORGANIZES THE RAW WORD? We're all writers, IFP members and in one way or another involved in the film business. Kevin Davidson Born and raised in New York City, Kevin has worked on independent films and theatre since the 1990s. A graduate of SUNY Purchase, Kevin studied film production and screenwriting, and completed several screenplays and short film projects that have run the festival circuit-including Journey Thru Space! and Light Bends. He also co-created the graphic novel project The Zero Heroes, and is a skilled graphic designer.
