Our videos page can include both informal, get-to-know-you pieces as well as professional performances, and can help you know our member’s (performer, director, etc) personalities better just as you might from an in-person meeting.

Some video types we encourage:

  • Slates (~30s)
a short introduction to identify a member’s name, possible representation, and perhaps some short/interesting/memorable fact about them
  • Bios (~1-2min)
slightly longer “tell me about yourself” personal monologues designed to give a bit more depth about a member’s personal background, skills, interests, etc (Brian O’Neil/agent-meetup style)
  • Interviews (~2-5min)
meant to be very “off-the-street” and informal, and not intended to be used alone, but in conjunction with a performer’s body of work as another way for visitors to gauge their personalities for upcoming projects (Inside the Actor’s Studio style)
  • Reels (~1-3min)
demo reel highlighting a member’s work to give visitors a sense of their styles and capabilities
  • Monologues (~1-2min)
comedic or dramatic material created and/or performed by our members to demonstrate aspects of their talent
  • newAuditions
audition from anywhere by uploading pre-recorded auditions or direct-record auditions via webcam using YouTube Quick Capture to CastingNotes™, then send that CastingNotes™ link to your agent or project’s casting director (more info)
  • newOne-on-Ones
upload your one-on-one video session meets w/ directors, etc to include it here; there are different companies that provide “one on one” services, a well known one being One on One Productions in NYC

Some tips and tools for posting your videos:

  • Recording/Uploading
We currently support automatic embedding of videos from Youtube or Google— just use the included “link” or “URL” field when adding your video. You may either link to one of your existing Youtube videos, or use YouTube Quick Capture to record and upload a new video at the same time.
  • Shooting/Producing
If you’re planning your first shoot, there are many resources on how to best produce and shoot video for the web— one of our favorite resources is Make Internet TV from the Participatory Culture Foundation.
